Updated Reproductive Hazard Guidelines

EH&S released newly revised Reproductive Hazard Guidelines to inform employees, students, and volunteers about potential reproductive and developmental hazards, and safe work conditions and practices in their work environment.

Individuals who are pregnant or considering becoming pregnant should be aware of the risks associated with potential exposures to biological, chemical, radiological, and other hazardous materials during pregnancy.   

Owner Project Requirements Template for Capital Safety Project

 

The purpose of the Owner Project Requirements Template (Word) is to provide clear and concise documentation of the Project Owner’s goals, expectations and requirements for a Capital Safety Project.

This template contains basic recommended components and can be adapted as needed to suit the project. This document should be completed before start of design and given to the design team.

 

 

Airgas service changes for cryo storage of biological samples

UW personnel commonly order liquid nitrogen (LN2) from suppliers such as Airgas Inc. and Praxair (aka Linde Welding Gas and Equipment Center) for cryogenic storage used to preserve biological samples.

Airgas recently notified the University that as of January 1, 2022, Airgas staff will no longer perform the following services:

dewar with cryo-freezer
Dewar with cryo-freezer

 

New workplace incident investigation training for supervisors and incident investigators

The Environmental Health & Safety Department (EH&S) developed a new online training course called Five Whys Root Cause Analysis. This training is recommended for University supervisors and other personnel responsible for incident investigations and documenting root cause(s) and corrective actions.
