Radiation Safety Training, Initial – Online and Classroom
Radiation Safety Training consists of online modules and a two-hour classroom training and final exam to satisfy the basic training requirement for radiation workers as set forth in the University of Washington Radioactive Materials License.
New Online Training - Availabile April 2019
There is a new online training available that replaces the old four online modules. If you are just now starting radiaiton safety training please start with the new training, as the old training will be available only until June 2019.
Old Training - Available until June 2019
For users that are already in taking the old online training, the old modules will continue to be available until June 2019:
- Radiation Physics
- Biological Effects of Ionizing Radiation
- UW Radiation Survey/Waste Disposal
- UW and State Rules and Rules and Regulations
At the end of online modules you are required to verify that you have completed and understand the subject matter. Once you have completed the four modules, you may register for the classroom portion of the training.
All personnel who use radioactive materials at the UW; individuals who have not yet completed the training may work under the direct supervision of laboratory personnel/staff that are already certified as Radiation Workers by the EH&S Radiation Safety Office (the period of direct supervision may not exceed 90 days)
