When hosting special events on a UW campus, a permit from your local fire department may be required. Additional permits may be required, depending on the circumstances of the event. Refer to the information below to determine the permits you need and how to apply.
For Seattle campus events, submit permit application(s) at least 30 days prior to the event to avoid extra fees in addition to the cost of the permit.
The Campus Fire Safety Right-to-Know Act informs prospective and current students of the policies, concerns, and fire safety conditions that are present at the institution in which they have applied or are enrolled.

Labs, shops and other locations that use chemicals must comply with the hazardous materials provisions of the International Fire Code, which limits quantities of certain chemicals in specific locations.
The purpose of the Building Evacuation Exemption Request Form (Word) is to reduce the possibility of compromising a patient or animal’s health by stopping or delaying completion of a surgical or other significant medical procedure during a building evacuation. You must submit the request form prior to the procedure.
The Fire Drill Report Form (Word) is completed by the Evacuation Director after a scheduled evacuation drill occurs.
Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) is responsible for scheduling fire drills for the UW Seattle campus and major research stations, and we can assist at other locations.
