New safety guidelines for photography

The Environmental Health & Safety Department (EH&S) created guidelines for safely conducting photo and video sessions in University locations with hazards while also ensuring the images reflect health and safety requirements and best practices.

All individuals who appear in a photo intended for public viewing taken in a University setting with hazardous materials and/or physical safety hazards must follow health and safety compliance requirements and best practices for those locations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

The UW Photography Guidelines cover the responsibilities of the responsible person, photographer/videographer and photo subjects, as well as the personal attire and protective equipment worn by the photographer/videographer and photo subjects in research laboratories, shop settings and other University locations with hazardous materials and/or physical safety hazards.
