The updated UW Accident Prevention Plan contains new and updated health and safety information and resources for University units to share with personnel. Department/unit administrators and supervisors should review the UW Accident Prevention Plan and the Supplemental Accident Prevention Plan with their existing and new employees.
The University is committed to ensuring a healthy and safe environment for working, learning, research, teaching and service. There are many ways for University personnel to report and discuss workplace safety concerns and recommended improvements. Here are some options:
Complete the applicable sections of the Crane, Hoist and Rigging Safety Program Self-Audit Checklist when performing an annual self-audit of your Crane, Hoist and Rigging Safety program.
EH&S recharges training vendor fees, space reservation fees, and materials costs for classes requested by units or departments. The unit must provide budget information two weeks prior to the class date.
Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) updated several University COVID-19 and respiratory illness prevention resources, including our Illness and Exposure Guidance, Public Health Flowchart, Face Covering Policy, and the UW Respiratory Illness Health and Safety Plan.
EH&S launched an updated online Wildfire Smoke Safety course to address new regulatory requirements. UW personnel can access it in the EH&S Course Catalog.
This course is required for University personnel who work outdoors and may be exposed to wildfire smoke at an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 72 or higher. Annual retraining is required.
University personnel have the following options for getting rid of hazardous materials and potentially contaminated supplies and equipment.

The Occupational Hearing Loss Focus Sheet contains Information about hearing loss and how it may affect University personnel who may be exposed to noise.
The purpose of the Hearing Loss Prevention Self-Audit Form (Word) is for University units to audit their compliance with the Hearing Loss Prevention Program.
This form applies if the unit has personnel enrolled in the Hearing Loss Prevention Program or has identified high noise areas that require signage.
University units/departments may use the UW Float Plan as a template to develop their float plan.
