Radiation Safety Training for Uranium Use
This training is required for all users of uranium compounds (e.g., electron microcopy) at UW. The training should be completed prior to an individual beginning work with radioactive sealed sources. If that is not possible, the training should be completed as quickly as possible, and no greater than 90 days after beginning work with uranium compounds.
The training consists of four modules. The first three teach radiological fundamentals, regulations and oversight, and biological effects of radiation. The fourth module focuses on the safe use of uranium compounds at the University of Washington, specifically performing contamination surveys, and ordering and disposing of uranium compounds.
The University of Washington is committed to providing access, equal opportunity, and reasonable accommodation for individuals with disabilities. To request disability accommodation, contact the Disability Services Office at 206-543-6450/V, 206-543-6452/TTY, 206-685-7264 (FAX), or email email@example.com.
