This course describes what asbestos is, health effects of exposure to asbestos, how it may be encountered by UW personnel, work practices and procedures to prevent exposure, asbestos management at UW, and regulations and responsibilities.

Intended Audience 

Required for employees performing maintenance, such as custodians, who work in buildings with asbestos-containing material that could be disturbed or contacted during work. Asbestos Awareness Refresher is required every year after this course is completed.
