The EH&S food safety program ensures UW dining facilities meet the highest standards in food safety, and protects the public from foodborne illness.
EH&S oversees food-related activities at all UW locations, including the UW Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, UW Bothell and UW Tacoma through a comprehensive food safety program. This includes permanent food establishments and temporary food service events.
Permanent food establishments
Ergonomics is the practice of fitting the job to the individual, which can help prevent work-related musculoskeletal injuries.
Confined spaces may contain hazards that can injure workers or quickly lead to death. Untrained and ill-equipped rescuers can easily become victims themselves. UW departments, supported by EH&S, must follow the requirements of the Confined Space Entry Program to ensure personnel working in or near confined spaces are protected from harm.
