    Short lived
    • The waste has less than 120 day half-life.
    • This is an inexpensive disposal option since it remains on campus.
    • The waste is picked up and held for decay by RSO in its waste storage area.
    • An AUI can keep this LSA waste in his/her lab for eventual free disposal.
    • The LSA material is disposed of to the regular trash after the material is held for 10 half-lives.
    • Use RSO FORM 176 to document short lived LSA disposal or pick up by the RSO.

    Long Lived
    • The waste has greater than 120 days half life.
    • This requires a very expensive disposal option.
    • The waste is picked up and compacted by the RSO.
    • The waste is shipped off for treatment and burial to a licensed disposal site.
    • Use RSO FORM 150 to document your long-lived waste for RSO pick up
