External Exposure

  • External radiation comes from outside our bodies.

  • It can be natural radiation, such as cosmic rays from the sun, or naturally occurring material emitted from our surroundings, such as K-40 found in all living creatures.

  • It can be from sources we are exposed to in our work, such as x-rays or beta particles from P-32.

  • We learn from experience and training how to best reduce our exposure to radiation.
