Damage Due to Ionizing Radiation

Radiation interaction with tissue or matter is nonselective. Whatever happens to be in its path is what gets "hit." This means it is very difficult to predict what kind of damage will result from small exposure to ionizing radiation.
Radiation does not seek out certain cells, tissues, organs or molecules to interact with. The interaction is random.
