Long term survivors of Hiroshima & Nagasaki received exposures
up to several hundred rads and have been monitored for various stochastic effects.Sixty plus years of study of survivors and their offspring are ongoing.
80,000 survivors of both blasts were identified.
30,000 children born to survivors were also followed. The current cohort consists
of over 300,000 individuals.
Cancer/leukemia statistically above normal occurrence were only seen in people
who were heavily irradiated.
