    Stochastic effects are:

  • Effects or conditions that occur on a random basis with its effect being independent of the size of the dose.

  • Effects that have no threshold and are based on probability with the chance of seeing an effect increase with dose.

  • Effects such as:
    • Cancer
    • Leukemia
    • Genetic Effects in Offspring
    • Hormesis (the belief small doses of radiation are good for living organisms)
