All waste from the patient (patient dressings, disposable food trays, and any other items that have come in contact with the patient) must be kept in the room, and placed into the regular garbage containers provided. Some patients might need extra bags, depending on the length of stay. After the patient is discharged, all trash and linen will be collected by the RSO or Nuclear Medicine for proper disposal, and the room will be decontaminated. If there is an item which the patient has handled and wishes to take home with them, Radiation Safety should be contacted for further instruction.
