X-ray Production Part Two

back arrow       forward arrow

Upon completion of the x-ray exposure, the electron flow stops and production of x-rays is halted. There is no residual radiation in the room after the exposure has been completed. Also, x-rays can not make things radioactive, including the patient, film, and x-ray machine itself.

  1. Electrons jump off the heated cathode.
  2. Free electrons are accelerated at the target by high voltage.
  3. Electrons hit the target & give off x-rays.
