The Research and Occupational Safety (ROS) provides key support to our research efforts here at
University of Washington. Using an integrated team approach the ROS reviews research proposals, conducts hazard assessments, and
assists with compliance with environmental, health, and safety requirements for all stages of research. The ROS administers the University's
Biosafety Program, Select Agent Program, Research Diving Program, and Research Occupational Health Program. The ROS provides administrative support
to the Institutional Biosafety Committee and serves as regulatory liaison with CDC, NIH, AAUS and others.
In addition, ROS works closely with our clients to provide
key services in the areas of industrial hygiene, safety, food inspections, public health,
accident/incident reporting, hazard assessments and control strategies, exposure monitoring,
respiratory protection, and occupational health surveillance. OHS provides regulatory and
technical expertise, conducts training, and serves as the regulatory liaison with
external agencies such as L&I.
| Accident/Incident Reporting |
Reporting accidents and near misses helps EHS track and analyze data in order to
create a safe and healthy work environment for all employees through the Online
Accident Reporting System (OARS).
