Hazardous Waste Reduction - Introduction

So now you've learned about disposing hazardous waste and cleaning up hazardous spills.

This last section encourages you to think about reducing your hazardous waste issues by reducing your use of hazardous chemicals in the first place.

While you don't pay for disposal costs directly (except for characterizing your unknowns), we all pay indirectly through increased overhead costs.

Also, UW EH&S collects over 200 tons of hazardous waste each year. Currently, much of the waste is incinerated in Arkansas, and some is sent to a special landfill in Oregon.
