Containers - Introduction

Your laboratory is a hazardous waste "satellite accumulation area" under federal law. This means that you can temporarily store your hazardous waste (up to 55 gallons of hazardous waste per "waste stream") in your laboratory, with certain requirements, before it is picked up for disposal by EH&S.

These requirements were designed to prevent leaks, evaporation, and misunderstanding. They are simple to follow, and they might help you do better research too. This section on containers outlines these requirements.
