Toxic

Chemicals that might injure you or make you sick if you touch, breath, ingest, or inject them are considered "toxic". Almost any chemical is toxic if the exposure is high enough. However, we are concerned with very toxic chemicals that may cause serious injury, sickness, or even death from very small exposures.

Our state regulations for toxic chemicals are slightly more restrictive than the federal regulations. Call EH&S if you are not sure whether your chemical is toxic.

Examples of toxic chemicals include:

  • Chloroform
  • Phenol mixtures
  • Benzene
  • Acrylamide
