Welcome to Environmental Health & Safety
Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) is an administrative unit that assists University units in meeting their responsibility to protect the environment and to provide a safe and healthful place for employment and learning.
EH&S employs about 100 people who are spread across the UW Seattle campus in multiple locations.
We have six sections organized around the services we provide.
Prevent Stormwater Pollution Focus Sheet
The Prevent Stormwater Pollution Focus Sheet asks the UW campus community to protect our waterways by keeping pollutants out of stormwater drains and reporting spills to EH&S.
Outdoor Heat Safety Plan Template
University units should customize the Outdoor Heat Safety Plan Template (Word) to help prevent heat-related illnesses and injuries from May through September.

Protect wildlife habitat by preventing pollution in campus stormwater
Stormwater drains on the UW campuses empty directly into local waterways, which can carry pollution that harms wildlife, such as birds and fish. Campus activities can put the surrounding natural areas at risk when garbage, oils, chemicals and other potentially harmful substances are allowed to flow into stormwater drains.
